Scanpix Prize for Astrid Dalum

Today at the ceremony for the graduating photojournalists Astrid Dalum was awarded the Scanpix Prize for best photojournalistic BA project.
Astrid’s project Jeg er kvinde (I am woman) explores women and their relation to their bodies.
“The portraits contains a vulnerability and it takes credibility and empathy to make the women participate” explain Scanpix in the reasons for giving the prize to this project.

Ahmed Hayman wins at Egypt POY

Ahmed Hayman has today won first prize in the story category at the Egypt Press Photo Awards 2011 with a series of pictures that he made for his diploma project.
The winning pictures can be seen at Ahmed's facebook site.
Ahmed Hayman has been studying at DSMJ for two semesters in 2011.

Amy Johansson nominated for Swedish POY

Amy Johansson, international student who graduated her Diploma project in December 2011, is nominated for the Swedish POY.
The winners will be announced at the award ceremony in Malmö on the 16th March.

The recent edition of the Spanish magazine Piel de Foto have published three stories with connection to our school.
- Nicolai Linares' story Dreams of a New Cairo is shown over three spreads. Nicolai has finished his final workshops in 2011 and in 2012 he's going to make his final BA.
- Prasiit Sthapit, one of the participants from our Master Class in Nepal, is represented with his story The New Silk Road.
- Jan Rosseel, international student from Belgium, shows his story No Budget Cup.

Six students nominated for Danish POY

Yesterday, the jury of the Danish POY released the names of the nominated photographers from the Danish POY 2011.
The list included six students from our school:
Liv Høybye Jeppesen, currently doing her intern at Jyllands-Posten.
Christian Klindt Sølbeck, who will graduate this January.
Dennis Lehmann, currently doing his intern at Berlingske Media.
Jeppe Bøje Nielsen, who's in his final year and will start his 7th semester this spring.
Magnus Holm, currently doing his intern at Politiken.
Tobias Nørgaard Pedersen, who's at 7th semester.
In all 21 still and video photographers were nominated this year. But it's still a secret which prizes the photographers will receive and for which pictures.
This will be revealed at an award ceremony on the 2nd of March at the Royal Library in Copenhagen.
